The Challenge
This concept project came about after reading about an initiative in the UK that focused on soft skills training for young professionals. Training young professionals in soft skills will make them more employable and reduce the unemployment rate.
The Solution
The training was in the form of a workbook, which I reimagined as a more relatable scenario-based training. A scenario-based learning experience is an engaging way to show young professionals how the soft skill of communication affects their work environment. This training helps them to realize that different office situations require a different way to communicate.
The Process
Responsibilities: Research, instructional design, scripting, visual design, creative direction, eLearning development
Target Audience: Young professionals just entering the job market
Tools: Articulate Storyline 360, PowerPoint
Year: 2022
Action Mapping
I began this concept project with a business problem that could be solved. I researched actionable steps that could be taken by young professionals to increase their proficiency in their soft skills. I focused on communications skills.
Visual Mock Up
The mock-up went through a couple of iterations after feedback from peers. The original visuals were too flat and lacked enough interaction.
The Results
I built this entire learning experience using Articulate Storyline 360. The peer feedback allowed me to create more interactive and engaging e-learning. Test user feedback said that it was easy to navigate, focused on real-world skills, and provided an excellent preview to e-learning that could be fully developed.
